Camino de Santiago – how to prepare, what to take
Camino de Santiago or the Way of St. James, is the name of the pilgrimage route to the tomb of St. James, which is located in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in the northwest Spain. It is, together with Rome and Jerusalem, one of the three greatest destinations for Catholic pilgrimages. Although the Way of St. James is a religious pilgrimage by origin, it is the Camino (or From the Spanish Way) for everyone, regardless of faith or religion. In this post I would like to dispel doubts and answer questions that may arise when the idea comes to our mind – or maybe to go on…

Lofoten and Senja – what to see in Lofoten in Norway
Lofoten is an archipelago located in the north of Norway beyond the Arctic Circle. It is famous for its beautiful fjords and spectacular bridges connecting the islands. On the way to Lofoten I also went to the island of Senja, near Tromso. Arrival in Tromso I went to Lofoten at the beginning of June 2019. In my opinion, it was the perfect time, just before the start of the season, which starts on June 15. A trip before the season means much less people on the trails, and at the beginning of June we can observe white nights there. Norway is famous for its high prices. However, as the saying goes,…

Dolomites – Seceda, Lago di Braies and Tre Cime
Dolimites! Oh I would love to go there! That was my thought a few years ago when I first heard about the beautiful mountains. However, I did not think about this topic too much. In the spring of 2020, after my return to Poland from backpacking around Asia and staying at home in quarantine, a friend was gathering a team for a trip to Italy to do trekking around Mount Seceda. I put the term in the search engine google images and only looking at the first photo I decided: I’m going! In this moment I had bought a one-way ticket to Italy. In the meantime, I was getting along…

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri Nepal trekking part 2
The second part of the description of trekking to the base under Mount Everest – Everest Base Camp (EBC) by Gokyo Ri and Chola Pass. Description of the first part – the beginning of the route from Lukla to Gokyo at this link. Day 8: rest in Tagnag We start the new week with a rest day in Tagnag (4700m). Yesterday’s ascent to Gokyo Ri (5375m) made itself felt, and thanks to the lowering of the altitude, we hope to regenerate some strength. The highest point of the expedition is still ahead of us. We spend the day sunbathing (during the day at such an altitude the sun warms very…

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri Nepal trekking description
Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri trekking is the icon of the Himalaya trekking routes. I first heard about trekking in Nepal at a presentation in Warsaw’s Meridian Zero café at the end of 2017. There was a sentence that went something like this: The Himalayas are not so inaccessible, you just need to want and prepare well. I returned home full of enthusiasm, thinking about the Himalayas. A few days later, on one of the travel groups, I noticed an announcement about going to the Himalayas for trekking to the base under Mount Everest, or Everest Base Camp (EBC) through Lake Gokyo and the peak of Gokyo Ri. Without…

Malta, Gozo and Comino – the most interesting places in Malta
I flew to Malta in mid-September 2020 continuing my travel around Europe. The choice of the next direction after Camino de Santiago was subject to simple criteria: cheap flights from Porto, a warm climate and the possibility of entering without a COVID test and quarantine. It was a one-way ticket and in total I spent 3 weeks there, further heading to Greece and the Peloponnese peninsula. Before I left for Malta, I didn’t know anything about the country, except that it was a tiny island in the Mediterranean. Upon arrival, it turned out that there are 3 islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. For many years there were different countries of…

Travel summary of the year 2020
A travel summary of the year 2020, which is coming to an end. I recently returned to Polish and have some time to collect and summarize my thoughts and memories. Despite the complicated situation in the world, it was a very travel year. I walked many kilometers, met great people, and at the end of the year I returned to writing this blog 😀 I know that it was not easy for everyone, and maybe this summary will inspire someone to listen to the heart and have the courage to act or to see something good in the past year. Below is a summary of 2020 in numbers: 11 countries…

Camino Primitivo – the most beautiful and the most forgotten Camino de Santiago
Camino Primitivo is one of the variants of the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route to the tomb of St. James located in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It is, together with Rome and Jerusalem, one of the three greatest destinations for Catholic pilgrimages. Although the Way of St. James is a religious pilgrimage by origin, it is a Way for everyone, regardless of faith or religion. More about the Camino de Santiago and its different variants, a list of things on the Camino and how to prepare for it in this post. Choosing a route – Camino Frances, Camino del Norte or maybe Camino Primitivo? There are many trails…

Peloponnese, a journey through the ancient Greece
I flew to Greece from Malta, as part of a several-month spontaneous Eurotrip in 2020. Greece is a country incredibly rich culturally, historically, gastronomically and geographically. It was here that European civilization began. Most traces of ancient cities in mainland Greece can be found on the Peloponnese peninsula. Below is a description of the most important monuments in the Peloponnese in Greece. Corinth Canal The journey through the Peloponnese begins with crossing the Corinthian Canal. It was built in 1893, although the first plans were made in the VI century BC. , and its construction was to begin in the first century during the time of the Roman emperor Nero.…

TMB – Tour du Mont Blanc – route, description, campings
Tour de Mont Blanc (TMB) is a trekking around the Mont Blanc massif. The route leads through 3 countries – Italy, France and Switzerland, is about 170 kilometers long, and the sum of elevations reaches 10,000m. Trekking can start at any point and do it clockwise or counterclockwise. I went to TMB together with Agata, a companion for mountain trips. We decided to go this more classic way, i.e. counterclockwise. We went trekking at the beginning of August 2020. For me it was a continuation of the journey between the trip to the Dolomites and the Camino de Santiago. However, when going into the middle of summer, you need to…
