Islas Cíes – Rodas beach, access, camping, best places to see
Islas Cíes are beautiful islands located near the city of Vigo, in Galicia, northwestern Spain. Islas Cíes is an archipelago of three islands: the northern Monteagudo, the central to Faro and the southern San Martiño. The central and northern islands are connected by the Playa de Roda beach, which was named the world’s most beautiful beach (!) by The Guardian magazine in 2007. The Islas Cíes are part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia (Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia). It also includes the nearby islands of Isla de Ons, Isla de Sálvora and Isla de Cortegada. This adds to their splendor, as…

Anaga Park and Punta de Hidalgo – Trekking in Tenerife
Anaga Park is a wonderful landscape area located in the north-east of Tenerife. It is an incredibly diverse and green place. Due to their location in the north of the island, the mountains retain heated evaporating water from the Atlantic Ocean, which accumulates in the mountains. Hence the heavy rainfall and wonderful greenery on the island! In addition, the Park has the largest number of endemic plant species per square kilometer in Europe. There is a lot to know 🙂 I just spent the first days in Tenerife visiting the Anaga Park. The starting point for trekking was the town of Punta de Hidalgo, which we can reach by bus 105…

Tenerife – what to see, practical information
Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands archipelago, located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is here that the highest peak in Spain – Teide – a volcano measuring 3718m above sea level is located. The island is inhabited by about 900,000 people, and before the pandemic up to 17 million tourists came here every year! The island is quite large, but it’s hard for me to imagine such a number of people on an Atlantic island. Tenerife attracts tourists with its stable weather – almost all year round it is 20-22 degrees, and diversity (about which below). I went to Tenerife for the first time in November 2014,…

Masca – trekking through the Barranco de Masca in Tenerife
Barranco de Masca, or Masca Gorge and the town of Masca is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tenerife. Or at least it was until it closed in 2018. Up to 800,000 tourists came here every year, making it the second most popular attraction, right after Mount Teide. The gorge was formerly a place used by pirates as a hiding place. Amazing views await us in the Mask. High walls, narrow passages and a beautiful beach at the end of the route. The Masca Gorge, after more than 3 years of closure, was reopened to tourists on March 27, 2021. The gorge was closed due to a large…

Lofoten and Senja – what to see in Lofoten in Norway
Lofoten is an archipelago located in the north of Norway beyond the Arctic Circle. It is famous for its beautiful fjords and spectacular bridges connecting the islands. On the way to Lofoten I also went to the island of Senja, near Tromso. Arrival in Tromso I went to Lofoten at the beginning of June 2019. In my opinion, it was the perfect time, just before the start of the season, which starts on June 15. A trip before the season means much less people on the trails, and at the beginning of June we can observe white nights there. Norway is famous for its high prices. However, as the saying goes,…

Malta, Gozo and Comino – the most interesting places in Malta
I flew to Malta in mid-September 2020 continuing my travel around Europe. The choice of the next direction after Camino de Santiago was subject to simple criteria: cheap flights from Porto, a warm climate and the possibility of entering without a COVID test and quarantine. It was a one-way ticket and in total I spent 3 weeks there, further heading to Greece and the Peloponnese peninsula. Before I left for Malta, I didn’t know anything about the country, except that it was a tiny island in the Mediterranean. Upon arrival, it turned out that there are 3 islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. For many years there were different countries of…
